Rylee's First Major Illness

Rylee’s First “major” Illness
Rylee is 11 months and 3 weeks old. She gave me the scare of my life last week. Tuesday morning I dropped her off before work. She had a fever of 101.4. Gave her some Tylenol and it went away.
Wednesday afternoon I picked her up and she was covered in a rash and coughing too.  My poor baby. I called the clinic and they said bring her in. When I got there, she had a fever again and her oxygen level was low. The doctor tool a look at her and said that she had HAND, FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE. It is a virus that causes blistering in those areas. That was also causing an ear infection and the congestion and coughing. She prescribed some stuff and told her to come back the following day for a follow up.
The next morning her breathing was getting worse. She stayed with Nana while I went to court to settle the parenting plan with her dad. By the time that I got back (with her dad) she was miserable. I took her home for a nap and packed her up to go back to the doctor. Dad went home. I took her in and doctor said that she needed to go to the ER. Her breathing was labored and she tested POS for RSV. Panic immediately set in. I took her down to the ER. Char met me there. I had not even packed a diaper bag. I was expecting a simple follow up visit. She was a lifesaver. Afterall, what do you do with a one year old to keep them pacified in a hospital. We took turns keeping her happy. Finally…. The doctor came in and said that she could go home. She was eating and drinking and her oxygen levels had come up. He said that if she worsened or refused to eat, to bring her back. THANK GOD!
I took her home.
That brings us to Friday. Scariest day of all.  By the time Rylee got up, her fever was up and she was refusing food. She was having a hard time breathing and was coughing to gasp for air. Back to the doctor we went. At the doctor’s office, the did a breathing treatment and right away, she drank a bottle. She was prescribed breathing treatments every 6 hours until she is better. So, we have continued that. She is still fighting a fever and still sleeping with me at night. This virus can last up to 21 days. So, I’m trying to be patient. It’s hard coming back to work today knowing that she is still sick. But, she is in good hands.
I had really hoped that her dad would come down even one day to help out knowing that she was sick. But, nope. He was off 4 days and couldn’t spare 1 day to comfort his baby girl. Shame.  Good thing I have enough love for 10 people. ;) We take it day by day.

HaPpY EaStEr!!!

HaPpY EaStEr!!!
Rylee is 11 months old and the love of my life!
Let’s talk about her 1st Easter!
I had a 4 day weekend. Therefore, we had some quality time together. Thursday was a stay at home, do housework kind of day. Friday on the other hand was not. We ventured out with the cousins to go see the EASTER BUNNY! I did not expect much in the way of photo opps with him. Rylee is leery of strangers and let’s face it, the bunny looked kinda freaky.  We waited in line anyway and when it was her turn, she reached her arms out to him and sat right down on his lap. She looked at the camera man and gave her best smile. I love that girl! We got an amazing picture.
Rylee’s dad came Saturday and she spent the day with him. He took her to the Woodland Park Zoo.
So, then it was Easter! We got up early and when nana and papa came and picked us up, we went to Casa De Fierro for Easter. It was a beautiful day and most of the family was there. We all sat down for brunch and Rylee filled up on scrambled eggs. Lots of them.  After brunch, it was time to head outside for the easter egg hunt. This was Rylee’s first time in the grass. She did not know what to think. When Char brought out the bubbles however, she forgot all about the grass beneath her.
It was a tiring but fun day. No family drama. Just family fun. Can’t wait for next year when she can hunt the eggs with the others!

9 months going on 2!!!

My little miss is growing up too fast. She is 9 1/2 months and she has the attitude of a 2 year old.
If she could just master crawling ( forward) she would be so much happier. I'm not concerned about crawling making her more mobile. She is just as mobile now with rolling. That girl can get anywhere and fast. She is starting to pull herself up on everything and is delighted just to stand holding the dside of the couch. It will be awhile before she walks. She is pretty wobbly on her feet.
I love that her personality is growing. She cuddles with me now and even rubs my arm as if to comfort me. Not so happy when she is entertained by smackin me in the face.
She has 2 teeth on the bottom and one just under the skin on top.
She waves and says "bye bye"
She also says, "all done. ma ma. da da. na na. pa pa."
I can hardly believe that in less than 3 months, she will be 1 yr!

ALMOST 9 months

February 4, 2012

Talk about Milestones. My baby girlS are growing up toooo fast. Today I shopped for Renee’s first apartment. She has come along way from where she was a year ago. She finally started taking her mom’s advice (hehehe) She has a job and just moved into her first apartment.
As for Miss Rylee…. Boy, Superbowl Sunday was her day! She will be 9 months old on the 7th. Not only did she cut 2 teeth but……. She said “ALL DONE” on command 3 times.
So, as of now, she says, “ ma ma”, “da da”, “pa pa” and “na na” Not bad for such a little girl.
She is not crawling yet. She rolls EVERYWHERE.  She is standing up with help and trying to pull herself up in the bathtub. She is all over her crib when she sleeps. I never know where I will find her when I go in there. It won’t be long before I walk in and find her standing there looking at me.
She is spending every other weekend with her daddy. He comes down to be with her. So far this is working out and she loves his company.
This is about all for now. Will keep ya updated!

8 months First ma ma

Well, Rylee is 8 months old now she is still not crawling. She is still teething but no teeth. She did however say ma ma and that was enough to satisfy me. We are planning a trip to Alaska this week. So..... stay tuned for when I blog about Rylee meeting her dad's side of the family for the first time.

Rylee's first Christmas

I can not begin to explain how good it felt to be able to spend Christmas with both my girls this year. I get teary just thinking about it. Renee and I have had our ups and downs the last few years and our Christmas's have been hit and miss, mostly miss. This year she graced me with her presence BOTH Christmas eve AND Christmas day. I'm not sure that she realizes how much that meant to me. That girl can melt my heart like no one else can and she has broken my heart like no one else has. I thank god that we have the relationship that we do today and I pray that it keeps getting stronger.

As for Miss Rylee... She had so much fun too. She is 7 1/2 months now and forget the presents, she'll take the wrapping paper! We were good as long as she had her binky in her mouth, she kept the paper out, Her favorite toy was the bumble bee pillow pet that nana and papa gave her. She hugged and hugged then when she was all done opening presents with papa, she layed on it to drink her bottle.

She is growing so fast. She sits now all by herself for long periods of time. She holds her own bottle and is perfectly content with feeding herself. NO TEETH YET. We are still waiting for those. I am still waiting to hear the word MOMMA come out of her mouth but I guess that will come in due time too.
This truly was my best Christmas EVER. I love my girls with all my heart!

6 Mos. 3 weeks (Thanksgiving Day)

I laid in bed last night thinking to myself, how do babies know when they are supposed to do what? Strange question to ask myself ? Probably. It was a sleepless night. Rylee has a cold. So, I laid awake listening for every little sniffle and snort from her room.
I opened the e-mail from baby center the other day that said: Your Baby 6 months week 3. "You baby is turning over now. She is turning ffrom back to front and vice versa." I thought, "Nooo, she's not." Well, 2 days ago, there she goes, turning over like she's been doing it all along! This is a good thing right? Except when she cries because she's wandered all the way across the room and can't figure out how to get back to her toys! I know that I should be careful what I wish for. I am not rushing her. She is not sitting up on her own yet. That will come. I am enjoying her everyday.
Today is her first Thanksgiving. I'm sure it will be waay overstimulating for her as she is going to be spending time with a lot of family. Uncle Lyle alone can be overwhelming as he is VERY loud. I have no doubt that she will sleep very well tonight though. I'll update later with a Thanksgiving pic of my 2 favorite girls on this Thanksgiving.
